Akrotiri Seashore Estate

The Seashore Estate project represented one of our earliest large scale projects. Encompassing nearly 4 hectares, we confronted the task of harmonizing the space under a unified natural concept that fits inside the surrounding environment. We also faced the challenge of exposure, with the site open to wind, sun and salty sea breezes.

This project adhered to the professional standards of modern architecture. From its inception, architects and interior designers from Athens as well as many other specialists collaborated closely with Chloroplastes. This cohesive team facilitated seamless planning and unified construction efforts, resulting in a meticulously co ordinated showcase project.

From the outset of planning, significant emphasis was placed on preservation, re naturation, and ecological landscaping. Our clients wanted a natural solution with minimal water use – a garden that blends in with the surrounding landscape. We opted for prairie-style planting, combining evergreen bushes and flowering perennials with ornamental grasses that sway gracefully in the sea breeze, adding movement and vitality to the landscape.

Large trees imported from Italy were carefully installed in hard-to-access southern areas using specialized transport methods. An extensive roof garden with a construction depth of over 1.5 meters was developed alongside the residential buildings, involving more than 4,000 m³ of earthworks.

Sustainability played a central role: over half of the excavated soil remained on site, while natural stones were reused to create retaining walls and rock gardens that stabilize the steep terrain. Through careful plant selection and minimal site intervention, approximately 65% of the landscape was preserved.

Only around 9% of the total site requires irrigation, supplied by a water-efficient underground system that significantly reduces water consumption. The result is a natural garden seamlessly integrated into its surroundings — a contemporary example of sustainable and ecologically responsible landscape architecture.

Following a challenging construction process executed to the highest quality standards, this project has become one of our flagship references and the foundation of a long-lasting and friendly partnership with our clients.
